10/24/2023 0 Comments Dredging masticator with pump![]() A dredge pump can also be used in industrial mining or construction projects. They remove material from a body of water and dispose of it on land. That’s pretty fast!ĭredging pumps are used to move sand, gravel, and other sediments. OEM dredging pumps are usually used when removing large amounts of silt from lakes or rivers because they can suck in more than one cubic yard per minute (1 cubic yard = 27 cubic feet). It can also take out silt from rivers or lakes so boats can pass through them quickly without getting stuck at some places due to too much mud on its surface. This process is called dredging.ĭredging is used to clean up mud, sand, and other materials that are in the water. Mats or matting systems can be used to traverse over and within the lake, pond, or wetland without sinking in the mud.You might be wondering what dredging is? If you have been to a construction site or area with a lot of sand and soil, you have probably seen some people digging up the dirt with big machines. Long reach excavators are not as efficient or stable with grading projects and standard earth moving so they are a specialized piece that you typically see within a certain type of project. Furthermore, the excavator can place wet, sloppy sediment away from the machine so that you can continue to work while sediment dewaters off to the side. Often the excavator can load or dispose of material without having to reposition. The advantage is that you can move sediment over 100’ in distance in one rotation, which is impressive. It also allows you to relay or place material the same distance from the machine. The extended boom allows the operator to remove sediment from the stable shoreline up to 70’ out into the lake. Larger excavators are the most commonly types and extend a standard range boom from 20-30’ to 50-70’. Typically, small mini and midi excavators can extend the reach along the ground from 12-15’ to 15-25’. ![]() The reach of a standard excavator is doubled or tripled with a long reach boom. Long reach excavators are fitted with a longer boom and smaller bucket to enable it to reach a further distance. The most common type is the long reach excavator. River Sand incorporates the use of several types of specialized excavators for its mechanical dredging projects. ![]()
